Welcome! Wikis are websites that everyone can build together. It's easy!

Carl Clayton, Director, SINTOThis wiki has been set up by and for SINTO - the information partnership for South Yorkshire and north Derbyshire. We are a partnership of library and information services in this area with the aim of promoting networking, training and partnership working.

It has been set up as an experiment to explore how a wiki could help SINTO members. A wiki means that all registered users can add or edit information on this web site. It will be an interactive resource for all librarians in this area.

There are two ways in which you can contribute. You can click on Threads at the bottom of any page and your comment will appear (after a few minutes) at the bottom of the page. You can also reply to an existing comment and develop a thread or conversation on any topic. Or you can register with the site which means you can change the pages or add new pages. Go to Help (top right of page) to find out how to do this.

There are two main sections to this wiki. Each SINTO Networking group will have its own page. These pages will cover the topics that the Networking Group is looking at and anyone can contribute to this.

Then there are pages for the courses and events that SINTO runs. These can be used for feedback on the event and also for further discussion of the topic.

SINTO has a website but the aim of this wiki is to develop an interactive forum for SINTO members to develop a database of useful information and resources. SINTO also has a blog.

Ihave had the privilege to have been an Infant School Librarian for 5 years on a voluntary basis in a school in North Yorkshire ,running a service for a designated library literacy time involving whole class and parents/carers.Are there any more of this rare breed out there? The scheme operates in highly successsful manner- 6-7000 issues per year ,high attendance record and beyond a doubt percentage increase contributions to literacy levels in the school.Have other Infant/Primary school librarians similar success stories? Have others best practice ideas in the current plight of low level literacy achievements of school leavers?
Do you find this valuable?
