The SINTO Members' Forum exits to
represent the views and interests of different stakeholders and groups within SINTO.There will be a special meeting of the SINTO Members' Forum and the SINTO Training Group on Friday 18th December 2009 at 2.30 (refreshments from 2pm) in Owen Building 922, Level 9, Sheffield Hallam University. (See below for directions). The aim of this meeting is to review where SINTO is going and give guidance to the SINTO director on the future of SINTO. An important part of this review is to consider the SINTO programme of training events. This joint meeting will consider the report I produced on CPD and workforce development for the LIS sector in Yorkshire (attached below). I will be looking for guidance from the meeting on the following issues:
-
Is SINTO meeting the needs of SINTO members for CPD/workforce development?
-
Is the pricing of SINTO events sustainable in a period of budget cuts?
-
How can SINTO members support the provision of local LIS training?
-
Are there alternative ways of delivering CPD/workforce development?
I also want to look at the more general issue of the role of SINTO as a partnership of library and information services.
-
Is SINTO meeting the needs of its members in terms of strategic planning and co-operative working?
-
Can the SINTO on-line community of practice be developed further?
-
Do we need to re-launch SINTO by restating the goals and purpose of SINTO and seeking a fresh commitment from members to the principal of co-operative working?
This meeting is open to representatives of all SINTO member organisations. Observers from potential members are also welcome. This page can be used to discuss the issues prior to the meeting. It will be of value to anyone who cannot attend in person and to attendees who want to float ideas in advance. To do this you can either contribute to the Thread below or register with the site and edit this page directly.Directions. Use the main entrance to Sheffield Hallam University.
